Description
The most dramatic examples of Neolithic monument construction are the massive burial monuments built up from large stones, typically 3 or more upright stones supporting a large flat capstone, the well known Portal tombs or Dolmens. The Poulnabrone is an overpowering presence on the landscape of County Clare. It dates to about 3500 BC.
